Top Ten Player Jersey Sales of 2010-2011 According to the NFL Store:
1. Tim Tebow, Broncos – Football Jersey
- The great Hype out of Florida and love from the Christian Community has pushed the sales of guy who has barely thrown an NFL Pass. He finished the season strong but, we will see if John Elway backs the Golden Boy in Year 2, without Josh Misshandles around.
2. Drew Brees, Saints – Football Jersey
-Super Bowl Winning Quarterbacks should ALWAYS be at the top of the Next Seasons Jersey List. Expect Aaron Rodgers to be Top 3 in Jersey sales on the 2011-2012 List. Brees revitalized a franchise and city after San Diego thought his knee was done. He is the heart and soul of a city that now has a ring. Something a guy wearing an Archie Manning Jersey can’t say.
3. Troy Polamalu, Steelers – Football Jersey
-No one wanted to buy a Ben Rapelsberger Jersey this year. No one wanted to buy a James Harrison Jersey it seemed either after he contemplated retirement. So the top Jersey sales for Steelers Nation goes to arguably the best safety in the league. (Ed Reed is better… look at the stats.)
4. Peyton Manning, Colts – Football Jersey
-Since he was drafted first overall out of Tennessee. Peyton has been in the Top 15 for Jersey sales every season since. #18 doesn’t have a change in Jersey style, but his love among fans has stayed high, maybe they wear them out every year when they don’t win the Super Bowl. Expect him to in the Top 20 for Jersey sales until he retires from the NFL.
5. Brett Favre, Vikings – Football Jersey
-Now that he is “retired for 2011-2012″ his jersey sales should slip. Throughout the next 10 years though, do you think he will sell more Vikings or Packers Jerseys? People will always wear a Fa(r)vre Jersey. I am just not one of those people.
6. Aaron Rodgers, Packers – Football Jersey
-Still in Favre’s Shadow for Jersey sales. Currently behind him in every stat, except one, they are now tied with one Super Bowl victory a piece. Expect this to be the last season that his Jersey sales are behind Favre for the next few years.
7. Tom Brady, Patriots – Football Jersey
-All he did was go 14-2 and win the MVP in a unanimous selection. However, most of his biggest fans have already bought there Brady Jerseys at somepoint between 2001 and now. Like Manning though, people must get them stained and need a new one. Huge fan of the Red Patty the Patriot throwback Jersey they wore in 2010.
8. Miles Austin, Cowboys - Football Jersey
-America’s Team has 2 people on list this year, and very few wins. Jerry Jones can push his product, Miles is a top 20 Wide Receiver but should not be Top 10 in Jersey sales. After Romo got hurt, not many Cowboys fans bought Ware or Witten Jerseys. Miles still owns Dez Bryant this year, as long as Dez stays away from the Mall, maybe more people will buy his Jersey next year.
9. Donovan McNabb, Redskins – Football Jersey
-Great new face of the Redskins for 2010!!!! However, an issue in play calling and feud with Kyle ShannnnyPants left him on the bench for the last few games of the season. Those who bought his Jersey last year might confused this year and afraid to buy a John Beck Jersey or a Rex Grossman Jersey. What are they doing in DC?
10. Tony Romo, Cowboys - Football Jersey
-Undrafted out of Eastern Illinois and he turns into Mr. Cowboy, while being 1-3 in Playoff games. Cowboys fans love Romo for the most part despite the fact he hasn’t won anything of value. If he stays healthy and gets the boys through the first round it will be a big step forward.
